Alonzo M. Watson, juriste de l’Iowa, se convertit au fouriérisme lorsqu’il a une trentaine d’années. Il tente de le mettre en pratique en 1843-44, dans le comté de Mahaska, où il fonde l’Iowa Pioneer Phalanx, et dans le comté de Jefferson où il établit la Jefferson Industrial Association.
